We handle personal information in line with Canada's federal privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) where it applies.

Information We Collect

When you use our website

If you fill out our contact form, we collect the details you provide: your name, email address, and phone number, along with any message you send us.

When you become a client

To prepare and file your taxes, we collect the information needed to do that work, which may include:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address
  • Your Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Your date of birth
  • Tax documents such as T-slips and receipts
  • Business and financial records
  • Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) account representative access, where you authorize it

How We Store Your Information

Client information is stored primarily in Microsoft OneDrive, with some information stored in Google Drive, as well as in email correspondence between you and us. We limit access to this information to what is needed to provide our services.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to respond to your inquiries, prepare and file your tax returns, communicate with you about your file, and meet our legal and regulatory obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

Who We Share Your Information With

We share your information only as needed to provide our services or as required by law, including with:

  • The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), as required to file your tax returns and handle related matters.
  • Tax filing software that we use to prepare and submit your returns.
  • Google, because our website contact form uses Google Forms, which stores form submissions on Google's servers.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our website. GA4 collects anonymized information about visitor behavior, such as pages viewed and general activity, which helps us improve the site. It is not used to identify you personally.

Cookies

Google Analytics 4 sets cookies on your device to measure website usage. We do not currently use a paid consent management platform to manage cookie preferences. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep client tax records for as long as required by the Canada Revenue Agency, which is typically six years. We may keep information longer where the law requires it, and we dispose of information securely when it is no longer needed.

Your Privacy Rights

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Request deletion of your information, subject to records we are legally required to keep
  • Withdraw your consent to our use of your information, subject to legal and contractual limits

To access, correct, or delete your information, or to withdraw consent, email us at marriataxhub@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from loss, theft, and unauthorized access. However, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
